MEASURING YOUR CURTAINS

There are two steps when measuring for curtains:

  • Track / pole width (from left to right)
  • Height between the track / pole and the floor: this will be the height of your curtain (the drop)

1. Curtain width

IMPORTANT

The width you indicate on the website is the width of your track / pole. We then calculate the curtain’s dimensions according to the width of the track / pole, to achieve regular folds.

Before hanging, your newly made curtain will appear wider than the width given when you placed your order. But once hung, and thus pleated, the curtain will exactly match the width of the track / pole and cover your window.

CALCULATION EXAMPLES

Number of panels for your window: 1

Heading Coefficient Rod width  Width of the curtain panel (flat)
Eyelets x 1.5 100 cm 150 cm
Pencil pleats x 2 100 cm 200 cm
Rod pocket x 1.2 100 cm 120 cm

Number of panels for your window: 2

Heading Coefficient Rod width  Width of each curtain panel (flat)
Eyelets x 1.5 100 cm 75 cm
Pencil pleats x 2 100 cm 100 cm
Rod pocket x 1.2 100 cm 60 cm

MEASURE YOUR ROD

To obtain the width, all you need to do is measure the width of your track / pole (not including any decorative ends, or finials). For a perfect result, where possible, we recommend having the track / pole extend approximately 20 cm beyond your window on each side.

MAXIMUM WIDTH
The maximum width will be different for each heading style, for technical reasons:

  • Eyelet heading max. width: 300 cm
  • Pencil pleat heading max. width: 250 cm
  • Rod pocket heading max. width: 200 cm

We also draw your attention to the weight of the curtain, which can be very heavy beyond a certain width (to be taken into account for fixing the curtain).

If you need a curtain wider than the maximum width (see above), you can just divide this width by two, and order two small curtains instead of one very large one.

EXAMPLE: For a 400 cm-wide window (eyelet heading): you will need to order your curtain, giving 200 cm as the pole width and selecting 1 curtain (step: ‘Number of curtains for this window’). Once the product has been added to your basket, you can modify the order quantity (using the arrows). You will thus receive two identical curtains measuring around 200 cm, which add up to your final pole width of 400 cm.

2. Curtain height

For an eyelet heading

  • Measure the height between the top of the rod and the floor and then add 2.5 cm (distance between the top of the eyelet and the top of the curtain).

  • We recommend allowing for a 5-cm clearance between the floor and the bottom of the curtain, for a ‘hover’ effect.

For a pencil pleats heading

  • Calculate the height between the top of the track / pole and the floor.

  • We recommend allowing for a 5-cm clearance between the floor and the bottom of the curtain, for a ‘hover’ effect.

For a rod pocket heading

  • Calculate the height between the top of the track / pole and the floor.

  • We recommend allowing for a 5-cm clearance between the floor and the bottom of the curtain, for a ‘hover’ effect.
